Padpilot theory for all devices.
Updated 25 July 2023
Student pilots can now get our best-selling PPL(A), ATPL(A) and ATPL(H) theory content on any device – Apple, Android, PCs and desktops – with the new eReader content platform.
Pilot training organisations can choose the eReader content delivery platform in addition to, or as well as, our Apple Books for PPL(A) and ATPL(A) theory (accompanying ground school resources for ATOs such as instructor presentations and LMS are compatible with both systems)
And students enrolled with these Padpilot partners are able to access their interactive theory manuals via a browser (Google Chrome is recommended) or the app.
Helicopter pilots, we’ve got you: ATPL(H) will be on the eReader by summer.
EDIT: it’s here!
Individual students can also purchase subscriptions to full sets of either series directly from us. (Single subjects are not available on the eReader
Are iBooks being discontinued?
No. Our Apple Book editions are not going anywhere. We will continue to update and sell our Apple Book editions as long as Apple supports its iBook platform. The eReader is simply an alternative option that makes it easier for student pilots all over the world to access Padpilot materials, and easier for us to manage our own content.
And did you know that not all countries support Apple Books? Now student pilots in every country can easily download PPL(A) and ATPL(A) books. And many people prefer PC and Android devices, so the new eReader is a more accessible way to study for the PPL and ATPL theory exams.

Same content
The content in the eReader books is exactly the same as the existing Apple Books, page for page.
This means the existing Classroom Presentations for instructors are also the same, and therefore ATOs can have a mixed ground school class of both eReader and Apple Book users with no compatibility issues.
8 of Padpilot’s 140+ partners have already adopted the new platform and initial feedback from 180 users is excellent, with most (around 60%) of eReader users studying via the browser option. Students say they appreciate being able to use existing devices without having to purchase a new iPad for ground school.
The content is the same, and the eReader books have all the interactivity you expect from Padpilot books: unique study aids, animations, videos and 3D models which help bring theory to life, plus a couple of useful new features:
Reading Time – reading time is recorded automatically on the new platform.
Annotations – book pages can be drawn or written on with a stylus.
“The books are easy to use and user friendly for any application. The new editing tool is a great feature and students find navigating through the material, given the large volume of content, is easy to do and to understand.” Graeme Rouncivell, TKI, Atlantic Flight Training Academy.
