Introducing Padpilot CBT for ATPL theory

Since 2011 Padpilot has been at the forefront of aviation theoretical knowledge training, changing the way ATPL ground school is taught, with career-focused, interactive, mobile-first ebooks that bring ATPL theory to life. Recently, a small number of pilot training organisations requested a Computer-Based Training (CBT) version of Padpilot books for their ATPL ground school. So today, we’re excited to announce a new option for our ATO partners: a modern, Computer-Based Training (CBT) version of our ATPL(A) courseware.

With all the interactive content, simple explanations, quizzes and LO summaries you expect from Padpilot, this new CBT provides another flexible option for ATOs to deliver our high-quality content.

Why Computer-Based Training?

When Padpilot launched, computer-based training was the norm. CBT was a static, linear learning experience we knew needed to be significantly improved upon.

In 2011, we harnessed the portable, interactive potential of Apple’s new iPad. Our ground-breaking textbooks were the first iPad-based ATPL books and gave student pilots a new, mobile way to study with brand new content and features, written by pilots for pilots preparing for the modern airline industry.

Recently, we were approached by a small number of Approved Training Organisations (ATOs) who wanted to use Padpilot materials but required a CBT platform for content delivery.  provides.

Our new CBT format is a reformatting of our ATPL(A) book content, designed to meet the operational needs of some partner ATOs, while maintaining the high standard of content that we’re known for. It is the same exceptional courseware, redesigned for CBT delivery.

What to Expect from Padpilot CBT

Padpilot CBT offers the same ATPL(A) theory content as found within our books, but in easy to use modules hosted within our Learning Management System (LMS).

This format offers:

  • Progress Tracking: Instructors and training managers can report on student progress, completion status, and time spent in each module.
  • Integrated Quizzes and Tests: Each module ends with a quick quiz, while progress tests are built in approximately every 15 hours of study time. A final exam can also be included.
  • Rich, Interactive Content: All the animations, 3D models, videos and graphics that make our ebooks so easy to use are also found within the CBT environment.
  • Flexible Access: The courseware is mobile-responsive and can be viewed on any device, although we recommend a larger screen for easier viewing.
  • Enhanced ATO Support: Like all Padpilot packages, a CBT ATPL(A) ground school package can include classroom presentations, the Padpilot Briefing Room, Area 100 KSA, LMS, comprehensive support documentation and customer care.

Our commitment to our interactive digital books remains as strong as ever, but this new CBT format is another tool in the Padpilot toolbox.

No matter the delivery method, students receive a premium, effective, and engaging theoretical knowledge training experience that prepares them for a safe and successful flying career.
